Comite del Pueblo Church of the Nazarene

For the last month or so, our family has been attending the Comite del Pueblo church. Stan is teaching an evangelism course (in Spanish) on Thursday nights. About 30-40 people attend each session.
Pastor Roberto researched the people of his town and discovered that of the 250,000 people that live here, only about 5% attend church anywhere. Obviously, this is a major mission field! Stan respects the pastor's approach to ministry, and for this reason, he wants to be involved in it in some way.
Today we attended the 16th anniversary celebration service at the church (see picture).

Just Chillin' on Easter Vacation

We had a great Easter! We attended a celebration service which included 5 local churches. The five missionary families here in Quito had a special dinner afterwards.
The kids gave me and Stan a special treat. They used their own money to buy us things for our own Easter baskets. It was the first Easter basket that I received in 20 years!

Magic Tricks & Sharing the Gospel

Recently a medical team came to Ecuador and held medical clincs in several towns in Ecuador. The team treated over 2200 patients during the week. Last Sunday we joined the team who held a one-day clinic in Las Planadas.

Sherri translated instructions for the nurses dispensing medicines while Stan performed magic tricks to the crowd (shown here). After he had their attention, he also shared the gospel. He was also able to share one-on-one with a family. This week the husband (Alejandro) and his brother-in-law (Diego) and sister-in-law attended church with us. Please be in prayer for this family that they will each receive Christ and attend church faithfully.

Two Houses in Las Planadas

Las Planadas is a nearby community that is extremely poor and remote. Shown here are two examples of the types of homes you'll find in this community. There is no running water or electricty connected to these homes.
