Our New Assignments (and prayers requests)

Language school is over (Praise the Lord!) and we are busy in our new assignments. Stan's job at the Seminary currently includes:

  • teaching Seminary courses which requires a higher level of Spanish than general conversation; pray God will continue to help him in this area.
  • heading up the process of getting the Seminary accredited. To receive accreditation, the Ecuadorian laws require the Seminary to be connected to an international school. This requires a lot of coordination with people in both countries, a complicated approval process and a host of other obstacles. Pray God will give Stan the necessary wisdom, patience and diplomacy.
  • organizing logistics connected with CENIC (our conference center which rents to outside groups). The income from CENIC supports a large portion of the Seminary budget and provides jobs to seminary students so they can pay for their schooling. All of the years Stan spent as Daycare Director and Camp Director is certainly coming in handy now! This fall another volunteer missionary family will take over these responsibilities; however, for the summer, Stan and a few others are in charge.
  • building relationships with Seminary personnel and students. Of course this is the part Stan enjoys the most, especially playing soccer once a week with the students and other local Nazarenes.

Sherri is also busy, but in a more "behind-the-scenes" way, which suits her just fine. She's able to work from home most days which is a real blessing since Mary and Landon are home for the summer. Her assignments currently include:

  • verifying contact information and building a new database for the mission to use in future mailings.
  • maintaining and expanding the mission blog (www.andeanadventure.blogspot.com).
  • creating and maintaining a new blog for the seminary (in Spanish)
  • helping others in the mission however necessary

Because Sherri and the kids are a bit isolated when at home, we're praying for frequent opportunities to find people to interact with, practice Spanish with, etc.

We very much appreciate your prayers for our new endeavors!
